More About: Scottish Broadsword Basket Hilt Claymore
This Hanwei Scottish Basket Hilt Broadsword is the exact replica of an original in the collection of the Royal Armouries in England that dates from around 1760. The sword, which is fully functional, has an unusual basket with twin, engraved “horned beastie” plaques and a blade with twin fullers running most of its length. The blade is German in origin having the length of 41 inches but the hilt and blade are contemporary. This Sword is a type of Early modern Era sword identified by a basket-shaped sword that protects the hand of the user. This sword was mostly used by the military in the late middle ages.
